haslam: almost round 3

chris haslam is a 28 year old skater from ontario. he skates for almost skateboards and independent trucks. former teamates include daewon song, rodney mullen, and ryan sheckler.

 
this video part sticks out in my mind than any other that i've seen. chris blows me away every time i see him skate. he has a creative style that's so fluid and technical, yet so aggressive and in-your-face. watch the way he pulls some of his flip tricks out of grinds. i'm pretty sure that haslam's one to watch for the ages. enjoy...

although it has changed dramatically over the decades, graffiti has been a long-standing part of the venice culture. though some communities around the country embrace the art and even encourage it in some places, venice seems to have an unrivaled appreciation for it. personally, i love graffiti, despite its vandalism. what better canvas than a public gallery of concrete, steel, and wood? vibrant colors and flowing lines represent the freedom of expression and eye-popping style of the beach vibe. dig...

this is definatly old news, but if you've never seen it, you need to see this documentary. it explains skate culture's beginning, how it was brought to the present, and where it may be headed, due to some punk-ass kids in venice in the seventies. you can't help but feel this certain sense of (bro )stalgia, even though most of us probably weren't even alive at the time. it's a very cool look into the past of today's youth culture.
